Virginia Adult Waiver Course Explained: Skip the DMV Road Test
For many adults in Virginia, the thought of waiting in long lines at the DMV and facing the pressure of the road skills test can feel overwhelming. The good news? If you meet certain requirements, you may be able to skip the DMV road test entirely by completing the Adult Waiver Course.
At Nova Driving School VA, we’re proud to be a DMV-approved provider of this course, helping adults across Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, Prince William, Manassas, Alexandria, and the surrounding areas get licensed faster.
What is the Adult Waiver Course?
The Virginia DMV has specific rules for adults who want to bypass the DMV road test. According to the DMV Adult Licensing Guide, if you:
- Are 18 years or older,
- Hold a valid Virginia learner’s permit,
- Have completed a driver’s education course, and
- Already know how to drive,
…then you can complete the Adult Waiver Course through a DMV-certified driving school like Nova Driving School VA.
Upon successful completion, you’ll be issued a waiver, allowing you to receive your license without taking the DMV road skills test.
Why Choose the Waiver Course Instead of the DMV Test?
For many adults, the waiver course is the smarter option. Here’s why:
- Avoid Long Waits → Skip DMV scheduling backlogs.
- Hands-On Training → Seven days of focused instruction with a certified instructor.
- Immediate Evaluation → Your instructor evaluates your readiness instead of a DMV tester.
- Higher Success Rates → Students trained in the waiver course tend to pass at much higher rates.
At Nova Driving School VA, we’ve helped countless adults in Alexandria, Fairfax, and Manassas earn their license this way.
What Does the Adult Waiver Course Include?
Our program includes:
- 7 days of driving instruction (50 minutes driving, 50 minutes observation each day).
